Initial Pitch

I'm pretty glad we presented first. It's better to get it over with sooner than later. I think we did a pretty good job. We have all the necessary info, and a good starting point to start actually making the game.

I'm a bit worried, though, that our idea was a bit too ambitious to take on within the time and data constraints, but I'm holding out hope that we can make a good game with what we have.

A basic Unreal Scene

My scene took FOREVER to package. I assume it's because I used the starter content pack instead of just the bare essentials. Or it could be because my laptop isn't powerful enough...I wouldn't be surprised if it was both, to be honest.

Anyway, here's a few screenshots of my scene:

This is supposed to be a shrine to the Smoochum.

I used Blueprints to create the obelisks and stone arch. The bushes were already in the starter content pack, so I just made them various sizes. The other statue was in the starter pack as well, so I just changed the texture from its default glass one. I already had the Smoochum model from when I was fiddling with Blender a while back. I imported it to Unreal without realizing it didn't have a proper texture, so I just made it chrome.

The First Meeting

Our team met up at Sweet Shop today to bounce some ideas off of each other and what our roles would be. We had quite a few concepts for games, but we tossed some ideas that would have been too complicated to finish within the 3 month deadline.

I'm not sure if I should put the ideas here in case someone tries to steal them...

We also went over what our strengths were in the design process. Kimber knows about Blender and hard coding, Aaron knows about story telling and programming, Zach already is familiar with Unreal and Blender, and I know a bit about Blender and music making. Hopefully, I can make some nice songs and things for the project.

All in all, it was a pretty good meeting. Everyone was pretty quiet, but at least we have some idea of where to go. We'll continue to fine tune the ideas, then meet again to finalize which project to do.
